How The secc Safety Breakaway (Weak-Link) Coupling Works.
The images and animation below show the basic principle of our coupling design in stages starting with the fully assembled connection.
The wide range of potential uses, for this simple technology, where both practical and commercial benefits can be offered, is quite staggering. From small injection moulded pneumatic components up to individual couplings weighing several tonnes.
Stage 1. Fully connected the SECC Safety Breakout Couping has no separating forces pushing it apart.
Stage 2. The application of axial forces triggers breakout at a predetermined force. As soon as the coupling begins to separate both ends are automatically and instantly sealed with a totally dry break.
Stage 3. The secc Safety Breakout Coupling fully disassembled showing a totally sealed and controlled dry break.
Stage 4. The coupling is reassembled simply and quickly by ROV and divers alike.
